Kori is one of two Seattle based dance artists that is working with me on the new project, “Sea↔Bus”. This project will consist of two separate improvisational ensembles, Sea-attle ensemble and Colum-bus ensemble, that will come together May of 2017 to put on an evening length production. The work will consist of improvisational scores and other improvisational exercises that the two ensembles will rehearse, study, and explore in the months leading up to the performance. Keep updated on this project, you wont want to miss it!!
Kori began dancing in college, and graduated from Denison University in 2003 with a BFA in Theater Performance and a minor in Contemporary Dance. She promptly ran off to Europe for the summer to teach Contemporary Dance Technique at The American School in Switzerland, and after returning to the US she continued teaching at the Contemporary Dance Theater in her hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio. Kori completed her BSN and became a Registered Nurse in 2008. Balancing work and dance, she choreographed a commissioned piece for the Ohio Choreographer’s Without Companies Festival in 2010. In 2013, after finishing a graduate program in Nurse Anesthesia, she moved to Seattle, WA where she has presented original works at Velocity Dance Center and On The Boards. In continuing her studies of contemporary dance, choreography, and composition, Kori has taken several workshops with beautiful technicians and great improvisers such as Kirstie Simson, Chris Aiken, Angie Hauser, Michael Schumacher, and Miguel Gutierrez. In 2014, Kori founded the Seattle Improvised Movement Lab (SIMLab), a forum for the ongoing exploration and practice of group movement composition. Off the dance floor, Kori is a Nurse Anesthetist and practices anesthesia at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle.
